Born in Laredo, Texas, Alberto Ramirez showed an early interest in art from an early age and his parents always encouraged him providing all the art supplies he needed. His high school junior and senior years were spent studying commercial and fine art . He focused on fine art in college, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

In 1988, Ramirez received his first residency grant painting a mural at various housing projects throughout San Antonio. Ramirez  branched out into the theater arts in 1991 designing and building sets and props as well performing for the  San  Antonio Fine Arts Center’s Fairy Tale Theater. He also found the time to produce editorial cartoons for the newspaper “Laredo Today”.

Then in 1993, with his wife Pam’s guidance, he auditioned for and was accepted to the prestigious Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College. Along with his wife, Ramirez accepted a contract to tour with the “Greatest Show on Earth”. Two years later, the Ramirez’ settled in Dallas, Texas where he continued painting and performing. While there, he also apprenticed as a marionette puppeteer and builder.

Currently, he is keeping busy with a variety of projects including producing illustrations for Raining Popcorn Media. Ramirez still keeps both feet firmly planted in the theater and art world and couldn’t be happier.
